Welcom to Papa Denney
This is my little site where i can share some countless and ramdom thoughts.

-A little about me
My name is Seth and I am happily married to the love of my life and the most beautiful woman in the world, Wendy. God has also blessed me with two gorgeous/dazzling daughters "the Mini Denney's" Lylah Blake & Madleyn Mae. (Hence this is why I have entitled this page 'Papa Denney').

I am a full time pastor in the United Methodist Church and also a seminary student. I love playing fantasy sports, singing love songs to my girls and telling people about Jesus. I am blessed beyond measure!!!

In His Image

One of the seeds I have been trying to plant in my daughters is the notion that God can use every aspect of our lives for his glory. In other words, God will use everything we give him – even our physical appearance. I am reminded of a story about John Wesley. John was having trouble getting people to come to his church. The church was going downhill and the attendance was dropping dramatically. So Mr. Wesley decided since the people will not come to the church he would bring the church to the people. John woke up that morning at 4:00 A.M and headed down to the local coal mining camp where he was going to preach to the home town miners. However, when John started preaching to them, he soon became the victim of teasing and bullying. John Wesley was a little over five foot tall; a very short man. All the coal miners started making fun of his height instead of listening to his message. John preached for over an hour and not one person stopped to listen, rather, they continued to make fun. Finally Mr. Wesley decided to call it quits; but before he did, he jumped up on a stump and started to pray over the coal miners. John Wesley prayed for over 45 minutes and in his pray he said, “God I know you have made me very short, but in your eyes I am very big, and you give me all your love. Will you share your love with these men as well, Amen”. When John Wesley opened his eyes he saw 400 coal miners on the knees with white streaks coming down their face. 400 coal miners converted during a prayer-because they heard a little man talk about the love of his big God.
God can most certainly use even our physical appearance to further his kingdom. I pray that as Lylah and Madelyn  gets older and goes through those tough girly moments of worrying about the way they look, they will remember that God has created them beautifully– and they look the way they do for a reason…to bring glory to Gods Kingdom. I Love you girls and I think you're the most stunning girls I have ever laid eyes on (even if you do look like me). Don’t you ever forget that God has created your physical appearance for his purpose. Don’t ever be hard on yourself; He designed you the way he wants you for his ministry. “Romans 12:1- Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.”

That was a great message that I wish we could all take to heart.
